OVERVIEW

This is a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette VIN 1z878as433777 with about 93,000 miles. It has the original motor. I bought it from the original owner about 3 years ago. I have spent over $15,000 (documented) on top of the $5000 purchase price. This does not include any of the labor time that I personally spent. I work part time at a Corvette restoration shop, so everything that was done was done right. I am selling this car to have money for my 82 CE.

EXTERIOR

The paint is very nice up close and even better from a few feet away. It was professionally wet sanded, but it still has a few chips, dull spots, and scratches. This is the correct Claret color and the car was been repainted 9 years ago in enamel. The body is straight and has never been wrecked. The glass is nice with no cracks. The windshield frame was totally replaced. The wheels and tires are brand new. The weather-stripping has been done - although it still leaks in a carwash. The glass tops are new. The underside has some typical rust and fluid seepage. Overall, my opinion is that the exterior rates an 8 out of 10.

INTERIOR

The carpet and seats are new. The dash, wheel, gauge bezels, seat belts, and carpet are new. The door panels and dash are excellent with just a few scuffs. The original 8 track radio was just restored and works great. The speakers are not original and one has a bad ground or connection.

MECHANICS

The car starts, idles, drives, steers, shifts, and stops smoothly. The engine was rebuilt 7 years ago with a cam upgrade. The car does have a very small oil leak and a very small trans leak. This has not been a problem for 3 years and I simply top off the fluids as needed. The car was dyno tested and makes 150 RWHP. All the gauges work except for the oil pressure gauge, which has a bad ground. The factory alarm does not work as it needs a new switch on the lock. The vanity mirror light does not work. The right power door lock sticks. The frame is solid with no stress cracks or excessive corrosion. The suspension is good and does not have excess play. I have replaced or repaired the following: brakes, windshield and frame, steering box, alternator, starter, battery, control arms, exhaust, valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires, distributor, radiator, window motor, emergency brake system, trailing arms, u joints, air conditioning compressor, heater core, most of the vacuum system, power steering valve and pump, water pump, and many smaller items that would take too long to list.

SUMMARY

I have driven this car off and on for 3 years and worked out many of the problems I found along the way. There will of course be things that break in years to come and this is not a totally restored vehicle. Rest assured that you shouldn't have any problems in the short term and I have enjoyed this car for roughly 15,000 miles. I am not interested in any trades and I will not do any more work to this car prior to the sale. Anyone is welcome to inspect the vehicle by appointment in the Gaithersburg Maryland area. I am available for questions from 1pm-9pm Mon-Sat toll-free at (240) 876-0935.
